Qualified
Courser-QC
AKC now requires a
QC (qualified courser), designator for hounds
running in their first lure coursing trial.
Your hound must run
with another hound of the same breed or with a
hound of similar running style.
A hound must
receive a QC to be eligible to compete in an AKC
Lure Coursing Trial in the Open or Open Veteran
stake.
The handler presenting the Qualifying
Hound shall be responsible for arranging the
testing hound for the qualifying course.
*Hounds who have
earned a Field Championship from either the
American Sighthound Field Association (ASFA)
or
the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) are exempt from
this requirement.
A copy of the application FC
certificate must accompany the first entry of
these hounds.
Junior Courser-JC
JC's are still
offered, however a JC no longer qualifies a
hound for competition.
A hound who does not
have a previous qualifying score in an AKC lure
coursing trial must now have a QC to enter an
AKC trial.
